At 28 years old, our friend Kyle Marleau collapsed at the gym and his life changed forever. He had a bleed on his brain which caused a cardiac arrest and severe brain damage. He under went multiple surgeries, four weeks in intensive care, four weeks in a neurological ward and was in a rehabilitation center for months after that. He had to relearn to walk, talk, swallow and even breath again.
The reality and logistics of this scenario were terrifying, complex, slow-moving, turbulent, painful, and overwhelming. And yet through every step Kyle was patient, positive, and determined. A true inspiration.
While he was in the Walkergate Park neuro rehabilitation centre, he took it upon himself to make use of every spare moment to work on getting his brain function back up to speed. During this period, while in the midst of recovery, he co-designed this tshirt to raise money for the rehabilitation centre as a symbol of his gratitude. The inspiration being the brain trauma he suffered and partial skull removal surgery he had undergone.
